Hyper Olympic  Konami1985the JAN code 4 988602 502190 is used in numerous outlets to refer to both ハイパーオリンピック (Hyper Olympic) and ハイパーオリンピック 限定版! (Hyper Olympic Gentaiban! ). Hyper Olympic is 4 events based on Konami's Arcade game of the same name. It seems appropriate to note here that Hyper Olympic's PCB has no chips, just 2 'gloptops'. Which is often a sign of fast and sloppy manufacture. Hyper Olympic Gentaiban! has all eight events and is the same game as Track and Field. There's a bit of tech difference also. Gloptop Hyper Olympic uses no memory mapper while the aditional data of the Gentaiban edition reires the use of a mapper.***For Hyper Olympic, Konami took four track&field disciplines (100m dash, long jump, 110m hurdles and javelin throw) from the arcade version and put them on this Famicom cartridge (a few months later they would eventually release four more events as [game=#168936]Hyper Sports[/game] and a US release with all eight events on the same catridge as [game=#8384]Track & Field[/game]). The game is a good example of a varied and well playable multi-sport events game. Good controls with a mixture of button smashing and right timing, as well as a high motiviation to break your own records make this game worth to play. labelimageminimize
Hyper Sports  Konami19854 988602 504170 may be the Hyper Sports set which includes the Konami HyperShot. Hyper Sports by itself may have another JAN code.***Hyper Sports is the second early 4 event sports game from Konami. The events consist of Archery, Skeet Shooting, High Jump and Triple Jump, which were all later also included together with the four other disciplines from [game=#173086]Hyper Olympic[/game] in the US/EU releases under the name [game=#8384]Track & Field[/game]. The four disciplines in Hyper Sports are all well done and motivating. Today you would say only four disciplines are not much, but this wasn't an issue at its release in 1985. Not quite as good as the similar, but more complex [game=#35201]Summer Games[/game], but still a good substitute for NES players. labelimageminimize
Track & Field  Konami;Kemco (Konami)1987The Armchair Olympics Are On The Air! This ain't no 20-minute workout. It's the ultimate in head-to-head athletic competition, in 8 grueling events. 100-Meter Dash. Long Jump. Hurdles. Javelin. Skeet Shooting. Triple Jump. Archery. And the High Jump. No timeouts, no breathers, no water boys. Just you and your own exhaustion. So get psyched. Pick your level of competition and the opening event. Then block out the roar of the crowd, and take a deep breath. Because it's not whether you win or lose. It's whether you survive.***1 player or 2 players simultaneous competitive.
[Zerothis]***Track & Field combines the events of the two separate Japanese cartridges [game=#173086]Hyper Olympic[/game] and [game=#168936]Hyper Sports[/game] into a new game, which was a very good idea, because with a total of eight events you get more fun for your money. All events are very well playable and motivating. The game had a very late release date in Europe (1992) and apparently they renamed the title to profit from the fact that this was the year of the Olympic Summer Games in Barcelona (Spain).

Winter Games Acclaim Entertainment (Atelier Double)1987It's all here - the strategy, the challenge, the competition and the pageantry of the Winter Games. Compete against a friend or take on the computer in four completely realistic and action-packed events. Choose the country you want to represent. Then practice, train and develop the winning strategy for each competition... Speed Skating in a grueling race on ice. Hot Dog Aerials for daredevils on skis. Figure Skating to test balance, stamina and precision. Bobsled, where every screaming turn could mean the difference between wiping out and winning gold. Your adrenaline and heart are racing. Let the games begin!***
[52]***What have they done to my beloved "Winter Games"? The homecomputer versions were great, especially the C64 version. The NES version (released a few months after the Japanese Famicom Disk System version by Pony Canyon) is a total mess. Only four events instead of eight (missing my personal favorites, Biathlon and Ski Jump) and those events that are in are badly ported. Controls are bad. In Figure Skating you not even know what to do when. Graphics are bad. Sound is bad (whoever came up with the Speed Skating "intro sound" must be insane). I have seen rather bad homecomputer ports on the Famicom/NES (just think of [game=#7823]Ghostbusters[/game]), but "Winter Games" is amongst the very worst.

Track & Field II  Konami;Hyundai (Konami)1988
[17]***The sequel to "Track & Field" features more games such as fencing and canoeing, as well as updated graphics, but still features both the "button mashing" and "aim cursor and shoot" style of gameplay that is better suited for the Power Pad and Zapper accessories.***

Donald Duck  Kemco1988Hey kids! Come along with Snoopy, his dusty brother Spike and his good pal Woodstock as they prepare to compete in Snoopy's Silly Sports Spectacular.

With a friend or by yourself, you can give the world's most famous beagle a big hand as he goes for the gold in six funny games filled with thrills and spills, giggles and wiggles.

The Sack Race is our first kooky contest. Ready, set, go! It's Snoopy and Spike hopping against the clock. Watch out! Those manhole covers could easily trip you up.

Now let's try the River Jump. Just fetch a long stick and vault over to the river's other side. Oops. Splash! Oh well, there's always another day and another event.

In fact, with four more games - Boot Throwing, Pogo Steeplechase, Overboard, and Pile of Pizza Race - and with its superior on-screen graphics and realistically rendered characters, there's serious fun for kids of all ages. (Alternative:... there's more fun here than a month of Sunday comics.)***First released in Japan as "Donald Duck". Later released in the US and characters changed to Snoopy / Peanuts. What is not well known is that this is actually a port of "Alternative World Games" from Gremlin Graphics, which was released a year or two earlier on several 8-bit homecomputers, which had no official license at all.

Ski or Die Ultra Games1991Welcome to Rodney's Winter Wonderland of tasty tournaments. A gnarly snow sport spectacular of five events - Snowboard Half Pipe, Snowball Blast, Inner Tube Thrash, Downhill Blitz, and Acro Aerials. Whether you're trying to win points or the judges' hearts, it's a torture test of slope-slicing skill for up to six skiers. But Rodney warns you the mountain's crawlin' with contest crashers like punk penguins, abnormal abominables, chainsaw-toting rabbits and bodacious polar bears. Frenzied freaks of nature who want you to cash it in on a snow bank. But buckle down and you'll rack up points for pulverizing all kinds of ski shack scum. Assuming, of course, you can swoosh past bear traps, trees and other ouch-inducing obstacles. And when you're not engaged in wild tubular warfare with twisted slope slime like Lester or the iglooheads, you must blind the keen-eyed judges with your brilliant backflips, ollies, pikes, hand plants, daffies and helicopters. Just stay cool while you hone your skills in practice or hot-dog it in competition. Because one bogus move and you'll be plowing the slope with your chin.***
